The ShockXR Kids Education Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to strengthening technology skills in youth ages 8 to 18 through hands-on immersive education in AR, VR, game development, 3D modeling, motion capture, and the full spectrum of creative digital arts.

Shock Kids New Media Technology Curriculum
Ages 8-12 | 6-week learning blocks | Mon & Wed (2 hrs) + Sat (9 AM - 12 PM) | Max 20 students per class. Certificate of Completion awarded after each block.

Students learn the foundations of digital art and graphic design using Adobe Photoshop. From understanding the interface and core tools to creating original artwork, this block gives students the creative confidence to produce professional-quality designs. They explore layers, brushes, selections, photo editing, color correction, and effects, culminating in a personal logo and poster design.
Mini-Project: Create a personal logo & poster design

Using Adobe Premiere Pro, students learn video storytelling from the ground up. This block covers cutting, trimming, transitions, titles, captions, sound mixing, and green screen compositing with chroma key. Students develop a strong understanding of video production workflows and complete a short edited video with a green-screen scene.

Students bring visuals to life with motion graphics in Adobe After Effects. They learn keyframes, animation curves, typography animation, logo animation, intro sequences, and simple visual effects. This block transforms static designs into dynamic, eye-catching animated content.

Students explore the world of audio creation, learning to record, edit, mix, and produce professional audio content. The block covers recording techniques, audio effects, sound design, podcasting, music beds, soundtracks, and voiceovers. Students create a short audio commercial or podcast clip as their mini-project.

A hands-on introduction to creating 3D characters using Character Creator. Students learn character modeling, sculpting, texturing, lighting, and rendering. By the end of this block, students will model and render a 3D character or environment object, building foundational skills for game development and animation.

Students bring characters and objects to life through the principles of animation. This block covers both 2D and 3D animation techniques including timing, squash and stretch, movement, keyframing, walk cycles, and expressive character motion. Students produce a short animated scene as their final project.

Students learn modern 3D production pipelines including character creation, scene building, animation, and rendering. They build detailed characters, environments, and cinematic sequences using professional tools. The mini-project has students produce a complete 3D scene with characters and animation.

The final block brings all skills together as students build playable game worlds in Unreal Engine. They learn level design, world building, Blueprint visual scripting, importing 3D characters and animations from previous blocks, and creating interactions and a mini-game. This capstone block prepares students for the end-of-year showcase.
